‘Seventh National Voters Day Celebration’ 25th January, 2017

The Prospective Teachers cum B.Ed. students of Chandigarh College of Education celebrated the significance of ‘Seventh National Voters Day’ on 25th of January, 2017 by encouraging young voters to take part in the electoral process. The event started on the note of pledge taken by the students and the faculty together “We, the citizens of India, having abiding faith in democracy, hereby pledge to uphold the democratic traditions of our country and the dignity of free, fair and peaceful elections, and to vote in every election fearlessly and without being influenced by considerations of religion, race, caste, community, language or any inducement”. Subsequently, Navneet Kaur and Nancy addressed the students by sharing their views on the importance of ‘National Voters Day’ that is celebrated every year in India on January 25 to mark the foundation day of Election Commission of India and the Commission’s objective through National Voters’ Day is to increase enrolment of voters, especially of the newly eligible ones. . Students also participated in the poster making competition. Dr. Neena Sawhney , Principal CCE , Landran appreciated the students endeavour towards conforming to the democratic ideals of Indian Constitution and by acting as socially responsible teachers of tomorrow. Dr. Neena encouraged the students to exercise their right to vote optimally in the upcoming elections and thus be instrumental in choosing the fair and honest Government of India.
