‘Blood Donation Camp’ was organized by Chandigarh College of Education, a constituent of Chandigarh Group of Colleges, landran in association with Deptt. Of Transfusion Medicine, PGIMER, Chandigarh and Rotary club, Kharar on 8th March, 2019. The camp was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Mr. and Mrs. G.L Batra, father of Shaheed Captain Sh.Vikram Batra, Paramvir Chakra Awardee, accompanied by Sh. Sanjay Kunar Ji, Additional Chief Secretary ,Punjab, Dr. PN Harisheekesha, Campus Dir., CGC, Er. AC Sharma, Dir. HR & ADMIN, CGC and Dr. Sneh Bansal, Principal, CCE. A team of doctors led by Dr.Suchet and interns of Transfusion Medicine, PGI screened around 450 volunteers. There was witnessed an overwhelming number of blood donors. The team collected around 350 units of the blood. During the camp donors were given wholesome and nutritious refreshment along with certificates of recognition from the PGIMER , mugs as gifts from Rotary Club and saplings from the department of Youth Services, Mohali were also donated to the donors. The camp concluded on a note of service to humanity. Youth Day and International Women's day was also celebrated in the main auditorium of the campus. The event was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Sh. Yashpal ji, PCS, Assistant Commissioner Grievances, Mobali and Guest of Honor, Mr.Yograj ji, Additional Dean,College Development Council,Punjabi Univ, Patiala. Ms. Rupinder Kaur, Asst. Dir. Youth Services, Mohali along with Dr. PN Hrisheekesha and Dr. Sneh Bansal by lightening the lamp. Youth services department on this day also delivered an emphatic presentation on the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji to appeal and inspire the youth to contribute selflessly to society. The attraction of the event was the cultural performance of Giddha by the children (girls) with special needs (CSWN) visiting from the special resource centre led by Mr. Gian, Govt. Sen. Sec. School, Phase 3 B 1, Mohali. Mr. Yashpal ji, Mr.Yograj ji, Ms Rupinder Kaur, Mr., & Mrs. GL Batra along with Dr. PN Hrisheekesha and Dr. Sneh Bansal felicitated the awardees nominated by the youth services for their services for society in the areas of blood donation, drugs de-addiction, education and meritorious students . The girl of the school were also offered school bags. Subsequent the awards ceremony, B.Ed students also enacted a skit depicting the prevalent problems concerning the youth followed electrifying Bhangra performance. The event concluded with a memento presentation and vote of thanks to the visiting dignitaries by Dr. PN Hrisheekesha and Dr. Sneh Bansal Principal, CCE.
