Chandigarh College of Education has a fully automated and digital library having 8100 and above books. The Library has reference section with the 400 books including encyclopedias, dictionaries in English, Hindi, Punjabi, national educational surveys, Yearbooks etc. It also has e-documents in a form of compact disks. The library is subscribing to national journals of teacher education, Newspapers & magazines for the staff & students of the institution. It is fully computerized and is using the IFW Edu Tech ERP software for the library operations. The Library is equipped with the latest facilities such as Computer, Printer, Internet & reprographic services. To encourage research activities and advanced reading, our library has memberships of many e-journals and databases of concerned fields. This gives access to articles, books, and reference material online.
- The library maintains a separate “Book Bank” collection exclusively for meritorious and low income group students. The Library has a well equipped reading hall with the sitting capacity of 100 students at a time. Reading hall has comfortable furniture & proper lighting for the convenience of the readers. Library is situated on the ground floor for the easy accessibility for physically challenged students.
- The intake of books is a regular feature in the library and no important title related to the courses of study is missed. In addition to the course books, general books for personality development, general knowledge, handbooks, yearbooks, reference books etc. are also added to the collections.
- The library subscribes to national and international subject journals, magazines of current interest along with national and regional dailies to keep the students abreast with the day to day happenings in the world and their fields of study.
- Besides the departmental Library, students also have access to the central library of CGC, which has a collection of 40,000 books and subscribes to 54 periodicals. Apart from books, to encourage research activities and advanced reading, our libraries have memberships of 10 e-journals (including renowned publishers like IEEE, Elsevier Science Direct, Tata Mc-Graw Hill, ASTM-DL, Gale Cengage etc.) and databases of ASME, IEEE and ACM. This gives access to students to access articles, books, and reference material online. The libraries also have 125 web-based courses through NPTEL and 136 video courses prepared by the faculty of IITs and other leading institutions of India. These courses are taught over the Internet. The library is tastefully furnished and it can seat 200 students at a time in its spacious reading hall. The serene atmosphere in the library with rows of neatly stacked books plays a major role in attracting the students to the library for serious study and supplementing their class notes.
